/WT Morumbi – work in final phase

September 1, 2015

Built by WTorre Engenharia, with a project by aflalo/gasperini architects, the WT Morumbi is about to open.

The architectural proposal proposed two identical towers, but in inverted positions, with connections on the ground floor and on four typical floors, forming bridges between the towers, thus characterizing it as a single building.

The hybrid metallic structure, made of steel and concrete, greatly increased the speed of execution of the work, resulting in earlier delivery compared to traditional methods. The big challenge in this project was the assembly and installation of the interconnection bridges between the two towers. There are five bridges, four of them with three slabs and one with two slabs. Each walkway was assembled on the ground floor and lifted to its support location by four jacks, synchronized by a computerized electronic system. The weight of each structure varies between 60 and 150 tons.
